Skills For Life
Working hard to master new choreography, perform on stage or passing an exam are all worthwhile experiences for our students and provide the important ‘transferable skills’ beneficial in many different careers. We have also welcomed Senior Pupils for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and provided work experience weeks for students.
Showing Potential
The fitness and social benefits of dance are well documented however any of our pupils who are serious about a career in performing and/or teaching can audition for our PRO DANCE Course at around the age of 14yrs. This course prepares them for entry to full-time training at colleges of Performing Arts at around age 18. Former Pro Dance Graduates have trained at Dance For All College, Edinburgh, Arts Educational School, London and London Studio Centre and are now employed as dancers, singers, actors, freelance teachers, dance school owners, educators and fitness professionals worldwide.
Stage Performances
Shows are a great way for children to transfer their skills from studio to stage. And it’s a chance for Parents to relax and feel proud and have happy memories. Special Show choreography is taught in the weekly Academy Classes with further rehearsals near the opening night. It’s a fun experience for children however it is not compulsory. Special costumes are worn however we endeavor to keep prices as low as possible with no sewing required by mum! Shows are professionally staged to a high standard within the budget and tickets are sold to cover the costs. We also work in partnership with Yorkhill Hospital at showtime and have raised many thousands of pounds over the years for this very worthy cause.
Aims
Our students love to dance together in a happy safe environment and that is why we take great care to ensure our lessons are challenging yet fun and our teachers are caring professionals able to inspire the next generation.
At Dance UK our ‘Academy’ Programme is the basis of what is, arguably, one of the most successful Children’s Dance Schools in the UK. This great start means our pupils can transition with confidence either to our Advanced Courses or simply enjoy a fantastic activity that can be continued into adulthood.
Our Academy Programme has been designed and developed by Dance UK Principal, Jacqui Wilson, and her Team and she personally keeps a continuous eye on quality and standards to ensure both pupils and teachers continue to be the best they can be.
The Academy is the ideal place for dancers of all ages.
