Brandon was one of our first students on our StreetdanceUK programme back in 2010. Although he started at 8 years old, he was always inspired by dance and was instantly identified as being naturally talented in the field. As soon as he joined he began to invest a lot of his time into training and improving to the standard he is today. He has been with us for many years and has developed an excellent coaching style that pushes the students to their highest potential. He says: “I decided to become a coach at DanceUK because I wanted to inspire kids to love dance as much as my former coach, Bilal inspired me”
Brandon leads the pupils in our junior, intermediate and senior levels through a specialist programme that encourages discipline, strength and creativity. This is all put to the test at our annual street dance conventions where Brandon gets to see all the hard work of the boys come together for an action packed day. Alongside former coaches, special guests and family, coach Brandon is the one to impress on the day! Brandon helps keep our street dance courses fresh and up to date by following key players in the streetdance space and learning trending styles. This challenges our pupils but also keeps the course fast paced, with new music and styles being introduced regularly.
Outside of DanceUK, Brandon is a full time student in his final year at Edinburgh Napier University studying PE teaching after completing a HND in sports coaching and development. This ties in with coaching at DanceUK as it helps Brandon learn new techniques and how to improve overall. As well as coaching dance, Brandon’s studies allows him to develop his skills in other sports making him a well-rounded teacher. One sport he enjoys in particular is football because he always played competitively growing up. This helped him keep fit and foster discipline to train better and succeed in all aspects of the sport and beyond!
Brandon is a key member of our team and we have loved seeing him progress from the entry levels of StreetDanceUK to a head coach. He is a role model to our pupils and we are excited to see what he has up his sleeve to challenge our street dancers this year.
