Assistant teacher
Emma began her Dance UK journey at age 2 at the Bellahouston branch. She sat exams in BATD Tap, ballet and freestyle and participated in over 15 summer shows. She showed talent from a very young age and progressed quickly through the grades with ease. A forever memory Emma has during her time at DanceUK was the opportunity to dance and cheer at a charity event for Yorkhill Children’s charity. This gave her the confidence and drive to take her dancing to the next level, whilst supporting a great cause. She committed more time to complete the challenging ISTD ballet graded exams where she trained hard and passed with excellent marks – however stressed out head teacher Miss Wilson more than she should have!
Emma then went on to audition for our senior Dance UK Pro course where she mastered using pointe shoes as well as learning new styles of dance such as modern theatre. She flourished on this course and passed all exams with ease after training hard. In her final year, being the highest level at the school, Emma had a principal role in our DanceUK progress awards. She performed at each showcase with her best work and set the standard for younger pupils.
In her final years Emma was offered a role as a teaching assistant as she showed interest in developing her coaching skills. She assisted under Miss Wilson, Mrs Slater and Miss Brady and very quickly found her love for working with children and teaching dance. After Graduating from Dance UK as a student in 2022 Emma has been focusing on Mini Movers and StreetdanceUK. She is building confidence in her teaching style and has recently been promoted to assistant teacher.
During the week, Emma attends Glasgow Clyde college where she is studying for a HND in health and exercise. She can incorporate the skills learned here into her dance teaching and streetdance coaching. She is also a keen fitness coach and has a motivating, can-do attitude that will inspire pupils and gym go-ers alike! We see great potential in Miss Emma and believe she will become a force to be reckoned with! She cannot wait to see what her pupils achieve this year.
