Assistant teacher
Megan started dancing at the age of two and attended the Jacqui Wilson Dance School in Bishopbriggs which then became Dance UK as it is today. In the early years she was taught by Miss Wilson and Miss Brady and continued her studies with us until her graduation in 2018.
As a pupil, she was very committed and participated in all the extra classes we offer at DanceUk to reach her full potential and become the well rounded performer and teacher that she is today. Megan had a special interest in ballet and attended our ballet elite course which enabled her to progress through ISTD grades from primary to senior level at Grade 6.
She is also a very talented musical theatre performer and she really shone as a member of Young Performers during her time at DanceUK. She performed in many of our YP productions including annual pantomimes, showcases and musicals. She perfected these skills under the teaching of Miss Cunningham and enjoyed many years of working with Miss Brady at Young Performers Wishaw. Here she used her own experience in stagecraft to inspire the young performers in their own journey!
She auditioned to join our senior Dance UK Pro course as she wanted to take dance more seriously. Here she studied classical Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre and achieved the prestigious grade 5 ISTD Tap award, Grade 5 Modern and Grade 6 ballet.
Megan was part of the Dance UK Show Team, which gave her the opportunity to perform at Events all over Glasgow such as George Square Christmas Lights Events and the Glasgow Evening times Awards Ceremonies. Another highlight of her danceUK career was taking the lead role of Tracy Turnblad in Dance UK’s adaptation of Hairspray at Motherwell Theatre. It was a great success!
At the age of 16 she applied for the role of a T/A (teaching assistant) at Dance UK Bishopbriggs and excelled in this role. Working alongside senior teachers she gained experience that set her up for the assistant teacher role she has today. She achieved the BATD Associate freestyle teaching qualification.
She is currently at The University of the West of Scotland studying a postgraduate course in PE teaching and she is dedicated to succeed at University – we know she will. She is an excellent teacher and she will definitely be loved by all pupils that come her way.
Being part of Dance UK means Megan is able to pass on her love of dance and performing and work with children to help them reach their full potential while having lots of fun. She is a valuable member of our team and we are excited for what is to come.
