Singing, Acting and Dance
Young Performers provides ‘triple threat’ vocal, acting and musical theatre tuition for our students considering CAREERS in the Pop and Musical Theatre Industry. Entry by Audition only.
What is ‘triple threat’ ?
With a resurgence in popularity of the ‘stage musical’ in London’s Westend since the success of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats back in 1980, the demand for highly trained dancers who can also sing and act has grown year on year.
To satisfy that need, both dance schools and colleges of full-time training now offer what is known as ‘triple threat’ classes and programs.
Before this, a young dancer would have had to spend a lot of their week attending dance and drama classes with separate teachers maybe in different parts of a city or town and then enrol for additional private singing lessons with yet another teacher proving both expensive and time consuming for Parents and pupil.
At Dance UK, we are delighted to offer our specialist ‘triple threat’ all in the one place course to cater to the growing interest in the all round skills needed for this aspect of show business.
Aptly named, Young Performers, we have 2 levels, Junior and Senior. Juniors classes run on Saturdays for 1 hour either before or after dance classes and are a great foundation for children. We presently offer this program at our Bishopbriggs, Bellahouston and Wishaw Schools.
If children then show potential and commitment, they can further their knowledge in the Senior program which runs on Sundays in Glasgow at the Palace of Arts.
YP Graduates have gone onto full time study at ArtsEd London and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS).
